A little model and matching dresses
I mentioned a few posts back that I'm joining the Junior League of Philadelphia this year. One of the JLP's biggest fundraisers is an American Girl fashion show in the spring, with girls from the community volunteering as models. Can you guess who will be modeling in this year's show...Kinley! She is over-the-moon excited because she is so in to her dolls right now. Yesterday she attended a model social where she got to meet some of her fellow models. I had the idea to make matching dresses for her and Rose, her doll, to wear to the social. To keep things simple, I used a long sleeve t-shirt from Target as the top of the dress. To make the skirt part, I added this adorable fabric that I purchased in Gastonia, NC over Thanksgiving break.
I used the remnants from Kinley's dress to make Rose's dress.
I absolutely love how it turned out, and Kinley loves how "twirly" it is. I'm definitely making a couple of these for spring and summer.
